Truer than ever, when we are fighting 3 enemies, it’s our health vs.,

1. Us: Overuse, misuse and abuse of our bodies are ammos for success (ref: 80+ hour weeks, working weekends, no vacations). We ain’t sporty (we watch, that too sedentary cricket) or eat healthy. Our conscience is limited to pandemics (Swine flu, Bird flu, Polio) or electioneering (Family planning, Swachh Bharat).

2. Our caretakers: The state doesn’t provide care or pays for it (Our public spend is 1.4% of GDP, less than Africa). Corporate insurance is still an “employee benefit” and drinking past hours cool. Back home, awareness stems from past family calamities; home remedies requested by grannies!

3. Our elements: We, at OfBusiness, live in a gas chamber. Our climate is more diversified and extreme than our culture.

India, now, is the capital of lifestyle diseases, be it heart, diabetes, kidney or respiratory disorders. For the last few months, >10% of OfBusiness have been on sick leave.
