The harder I work, the luckier I get!

The harder I work, the luckier I get!

“Mr. Fitness” and one of Golf’s “Big Three”, Gary Player, famously, summarized for super achievers across fields, when asked why his birdies always sank.

If in Tokyo, see the average Japanese: always on the move, always working over time. They created the 2nd largest global economy from the ashes of WWII through sheer “industry” –pun intended.

Be it Sun Tzu or Patton, the great generals ask you to “sweat” in peace, so that you bleed less and win in war. Life on the high lane is a war, no less.

These days, though, the hard worker’s increasingly passé and looked down upon.

He’s a “grafter” in sports (ain’t talented), he’s a “muggu” at school (ain’t a “stud”) and he’s “slogger” at work (ain’t “smart” or “work-life balanced”). The hard hours make him look bad, foolish and imbalanced.

What one misses, though, in the façade of talented, smart champions is that they are mere facades!

Malcolm Gladwell (“Outliers”) argues that it’s never talent, but the 10,000 hours in a vocation that makes one an “outlier” in it!

Not at OfBusiness. We are proud that we are wired 24 x7, including weekends and we know that if we slog, we stand a chance. We don’t argue that you cannot be smart or gifted or balanced, but believe the three will not substitute for hard work but rather compound it to create “lucky” magic.
