All Sony channels carry the tagline these days. It’s for the Melbourne January: >40°C heat punishing the 60% humidity. Fresh minds with fresher limbs are ones who’ve hitherto triumphed here. This year may be different. It may turn out to be the year of the 37 year olds, all making a come back.

The 1st, Dhoni, comes back from the dead. Man of the Series, 3/3 fifties, 2 unbeaten in winning causes, plus keeping wickets. The 2nd, Serena, is back from pregnancy. 2018 was only the 3rd year in the last 16 that she missed a slam. The 3rd, Federer, is completing his return from knee/ back ailments since early 2018.  Both aging like fine wine, Serena and Federer are in the pre-quarters of Australian Open 2019 as we speak.

While a lot defines these greats, it’s their hunger and hustle to be on this stage that keeps getting them back. They’ve all given away their lesser suits: Clay (Federer), Tests (Dhoni) and Non-Slam tournaments (Serena). And they’re all on punishing diets and fitness routines.

Trust Jan to set a grand 2019 – Dhoni to the World Cup, Serena to the top of women’s slams and Federer widening his gap further at the top of men’s slams. At OfBusiness, as we begin our quest for 2019, they and their deeds on the #StageOfGreats is a source of early inspiration.
