What you are…
… you build on it! An old saying in my vernacular language that I picked up from my mother. For life. Something that I have built my life’s values on. There was always the lucre to change for the better, but I seldom gave in. Refusing to change, through thick and thin. No wonder that I turned an entrepreneur, where the urge to change is minimal.
And while building, evolve…
… else, you dissolve soon. Again, an old saying from her that, if unused, I would not have been me. She was a high performing academic daughter to an ambitious father, then a diligently professional wife to an even more ambitious husband before parenting me. All the while, maintaining an individuality while compromising for the better good.
Yet when you dissolve…
… you go down fighting, smiling. Her last vow. She finally passed away smiling, fighting for more than 15 years against the dreaded disease. At the peak of Covid 4 years back, not to the diseases, but in her sleep.
Today isn’t Mother’s Day, her birthday or her anniversary(ies). But as I complete my 350th straight Sunday blog in a row, I wonder what kept me at it all these weekly mornings. It’s a trait I picked up from her; of being at it, at it, a habit that is self-developed. And hence a few words of tribute. (She’d have shrugged it aside for sure.)
And when I look around our businesses @Oxyzo and @OfBusiness, these are traits that we have picked up as a whole. Especially the last one: doing the same thing over and over again. Come what may.
