Here Are Reasons Behind Chinese Market Aluminium, Zinc And Copper Inventory Fluctuation

The most recent SMM data reveals changes in the copper, zinc, and aluminium stockpiles in China’s main marketplaces. Domestic inventories of aluminium billets declined by 10,600 mt, while inventories of aluminium ingots decreased by 53,000 mt from the previous week. While copper inventories in China increased by 9,400 mt, the social inventories of zinc ingots across seven major markets decreased by 21,600 mt from the previous week.

Change In Inventory
- Aluminium- Less cargo arrivals and a rising proportion of molten aluminium being cast into intermediate products or sold to downstream operations were the causes of the fall in the inventory of aluminium ingots.
- Zinc- Shanghai’s zinc inventory plummeted as downstream buyers’ willingness to buy increased along with their need to restock.
- Copper- Inventory levels rose because of transportation problems that caused copper cathode to stagnate at manufacturing facilities and smelters that sent products directly downstream.

One of India’s largest trading partners, China’s market inventory fell for copper, zinc, and aluminium could affect India’s economy. China is India’s largest copper supplier, and the recent rise in inventories may cause copper prices to decline. Given that China is also one of India’s main suppliers of zinc, the decline in zinc stocks could result in higher prices. Regarding aluminium, the drop in inventory may indicate future price increases. India must therefore keep an eye on these market swings and make appropriate plans.
