3 cheers to independence
After practically 6 months of bondage, normalcy seems to be seeping back in amidst the pandemic. We at OfBusiness (in financial services) are mostly on the field, so sharing some vivid images.
1. Moratoriums are done –
When you call a customer, he does not discuss moratoriums anymore. It’s about his business, albeit with difficulties of starting back. 6 months of morat-raj (though well-deserved for a few) with the fear that financial discipline among borrowers will go away forever seems to be done.
2. Hawkers are back –
The fruits, vegetables, snacks, and apparel sellers are back hustling. You may be a consumer; you may not be. But when you see them, you feel safe, you feel busy. If the common back is on the street, earning, you are well on your way too.

3. Metro is back –
First, I read it in the papers, but they sounded like rumors; there had been many earlier. But the sight of overhead metros in Delhi on the bridge many times a few days back was an air of freshness that was dated pre-independence.

There are some “personal consumption” demons that are yet to be felled: the international flights, the cinema halls, the sporting events, the bustling malls.
But on-field business is back, hopefully with a vengeance to avenge the 6 months of bondage!
