The little bird

What with the bird in the nest,
Tiny, but trying its best –
To air itself, with the storm against;
Though comforted at home in rest;
As the gust held sway,
the bird heard it’s heart say:

 
“Tis warm here and here’s food;
but the feeling of being no good;
While high there, they all kiss the skies,
I ponder here of when’s and why’s;
Don’t grow bold I am told,
The outside stormy, dark and cold;
Dark surely, but will soon be fine,
The nest is good, but not mine;
If any day, why not today –
If I lose, I will find my way”

 
We want to be like you, oh bird in the nest –
If not yet flying, fighting uneasy at rest!
