Humility the Multiplier
Through years of professional rigor, one knows that humility is the best multiplier to success. Most professional qualities make you a great individual, but humility makes you both a great team man and leader. People are attracted to, connect and hang out with the humble.
A great reminder of this was when I was interviewed by one of my teen idols, Subroto Bagchi Sir, 2 weeks back.
Bagchi Babu, after all his towering work as the co-founder of $10B Mcap Mind Tree (in addition to inspiring young minds as a business author), has now gone back to giving back. He’s a pro-bono Cabinet Minister trying to upskill Odia youth apart from being a reporter bringing Odia successes to inspire the next-gen. In addition to being one of the celebrated philanthropists of the state.
In conversation, he’d never spoken about himself, even when prompted. He’d never add from his experience, though he’d have seen it all. The genuine excitement he’d exude when hearing an achievement or a philosophy is seen to be believed—all in the native tongue to connect with the wider audience.
He’s what the world wants its great leaders to be. Rise through insurmountable odds to challenge globally, inspire millions at that stage and then come back to raise the level of where you started. All in humility.
