“Lean” in!

“Lean” in!

In the ‘50s US, Toyota, a rank outsider, entered the den of Ford and Chevrolet. Over sustained obsession with reduction of waste across decades – in time, material, money or manpower – it’s global #1 in auto now. A customer never pays for waste, it paid for the “Lean” Toyota!

After an energy sapping 150+ last week, King Kohli attributed his “all run” century to his obsession to burn fat in countless hours at the gym. Fat is a waste; it slows you down when you need adrenaline the most.

Lean, or an obsession to reduce waste, creates excellence.

When the war years dried up financing in the movie industry, Alfred Hitchcock invented a new genre in movie making. Each camera angle, each dialogue and each “’production” penny had to “only” pace the narrative. His movies had audiences riveted, the cash registers ringing and not a screen second wasted.

Lean, or an obsession to reduce waste, drives us out of comfort zone!

Sometimes we believe it can wait (“Let’s build scale first…!”). Sometimes we believe it’s not our job (Swachh Bharat is still a national drive, not the common man’s). Not at OfBusiness. A state of mind for some time, we’re slowly translating it to action now. Not just in each number in the annual budget, it’s in every OfBian’s step now.

For if you’ve got to win, you’ve got to let the “Lean” in!
