OntoNext

Growing up as a boy in small-town Orissa, bus journeys were a big part of my life. If you got the window seat, far from the wheels, you were in heaven. You could see the fields, get your head and hand out once in a while to feel the wind.

And then there were the milestones, every km. They were fascinating. We’d fly past each, one by one. I’d time on my digital “Casio” watch how fast or slow we moved between them. And my mind would wander away to think what made us particularly slow or fast. It was a great game (had speed, action and analytics), in the absence of anything else to do. My fellow passengers, though, wouldn’t care about my little game and my fascination for the next milestone.

A few years later, I cleared my engineering entrance. I didn’t know how to react. Till, I heard one of my mentors saying that it was just a milestone. Aah! It was same as the bus journey. The same little game. I could peep out to enjoy, think about how fast or slow I got there and why. But had to quickly get ready for the next milestone.

I’ve felt the exact same way whenever I’ve reached a milestone. With each recognition, big or small. So, when we raised some money and featured in some rankings last week, we made the game official at OfBusiness by coining the motto #OntoNext.
