Stand and Wait

“They also serve who only stand and wait.” – John Milton.
Written in a different context, in a different era for showing the poet’s unwavering devotion to the almighty, despite his imminent (blindness and) inability to be on the front.

For years, these lines have signified to me what our near and dear ones do as we chart out our destinies. Our parents, spouses, children, siblings and others adjust to our lifestyle, demands and quirks: without questions and a firm belief that we are onto greatness. And with 2 simple promises that they will stand firm like a rock behind us through thick and thin and wait for us to come to them. With this support, we multiply our output. In the absence of it, we won’t be what we are.

At OfBusiness, we have demanding lifestyles. We are wired 24 x 7, likely travelling most of the time; we have goals to achieve and very little time for them. But most of us have been blessed with those who stand and wait. Families that have believed in us when OfBusiness was literally zero five years back, with the belief that has got stronger as OfBusiness has gone from strength to strength.

This festive season, as we come close to an action-packed year and wait for even more action the next, let’s begin by not only acknowledging and appreciating each one of us (which anyways we will do), but also the ones behind us who have stood and waited: the OFBian families.
