  • All varieties of chilli in the Guntur market are experiencing a stable downtrend in prices.
  • Teja deluxe sold at Rs.220/kg, some super deluxe lots at Rs.225-230/kg with good demand, and mostly sold at Rs.215/kg in the morning market. 5531 quality is very poor, deluxe lots bid at Rs.190/kg, best quality selling at Rs.185/kg. Prices remain stable as last week.
  • DD prices remain stable, and deluxe quality is sold at Rs. 190-200/kg. Bidding for Desavali variety is at Rs. 215/kg, and Bhadrachalam 341 is being sold at Rs. 200/kg.
  • Khammam and Warangal markets are also stable with no significant changes. Janda paata is being sold at Rs.225/kg in Khammam, and Rs.211/kg in Warangal.
  • The cumin market in Unjha is experiencing a high trend with prices trading around Rs. 400+. The bold quality market closed at Rs. 470/kg in the Saturday market. The market is witnessing higher prices in this season, and price fluctuation continues.
  • Fennel prices remained low in the Saturday market and closed at Rs.245/kg, showing fluctuation for the past few weeks. On the other hand, dill seed/ajwain prices are stable and were bid at Rs.155/kg in the same market.
  • Ajwain prices are stable and continue to trade at high prices. The Saturday market closed with ajwain prices at Rs.155/kg.

Demand and Supply

  • Chilli arrivals in Guntur market reported lower than expected in all markets today.
  • Arrivals in Guntur market are down by 80,000 bags while Byadigi market is experiencing poor arrivals with only 30,000 bags today, resulting in slow sales in the markets.
  • Continuous rainfall is affecting the chilli markets and farmers, resulting in poor quality of chillies in all varieties. Arrivals are not up to the mark, and bidding is going in lower numbers.
  • Teja variety is in high demand with high prices in the market, but recent rains have caused most arrivals to have high moisture and poor quality. Most arrivals are of medium quality rather than the best and deluxe qualities.
  • Companies are purchasing well-dried material suitable for processing due to good demand from local powder mills.

  • Based on the current bad weather conditions that are not suitable for good drying, prices for all varieties of chillies have remained stable. It is suggested that this stable market may continue for some time. Traders are keeping prices in lower numbers for all varieties except Teja.
