“Let the fear not go viral…

… in fighting the virus” (António Guterres, UN Secretary General). One of the best statements that I read in the fight against the deadly COVID 19. But Alas, it has been just that. 

Organizations and countries have (or threaten to) come to a standstill. Markets are bearish. Public places are being deserted. Global travel is halted. Economies are predicting a black swan. Social media’s spreading news (both true and fake) at the speed of light. And everyone wants to be at home, hiding. The WHO has declared it pandemic, after all.

And in this pandemonium, we must not forget what we should do. 1^st are simple steps of increased personal hygiene (hand wash and not rubbing one’s face with hands) and respiratory hygiene (cough or sneeze into a disposable). 2^nd is sustained vigilance of maintaining distance from anyone that arouses suspicion. 3^rd is to follow all instructions from our caregivers and employers. 4^th is to educate all around: our clear motto here at OfBusiness.

5^th and foremost is trust that global health systems have never been stronger than now. A cure will come; it’s around the corner. It is the losses prior to that which we need to contain. And for that, the virus has to spread at a lesser speed.

Stay healthy, not stealthy in fear!
