Once an OFBian, forever one!
Last week, I saw 2 very different ways in which alumni relations played out for us at OfBusiness.
At one end, we had an OFBian, who’d moved for starting out on his own 3 years back spending three full painstaking days with us amidst lockdown controls to get one of our oldest standing tax issues resolved in the interiors of Andhra. No one had asked (him), and when asked why, he reminded us of the subject line. Thanks to @Ramakrishna Immadi and many more who’ve lived the phrase in spirit.
At the other end, another anonymously took to online forums to launch a vicious personal attack against some named members in the firm. All forums had the good sense to remove them and then inform us. We, at our end, thought best to ignore and move on as it was tough to resolve the situation, since the writer remained anonymous.
Key learning was while one aspires for the former, one has to live with the later (for vendetta at workplace is but human).
When we’d started out, we wanted our alumni to be our flagbearers forever. Alumni, for us, is critical, as we mostly hire freshmen from campuses. And their quality reflects on the stint that they had at OfBusiness. Hence, to make them feel a part of us always, we coined the phrase, “Once an OFBian, forever one”!
