India's polymer industry is one of the largest in Asia with annual consumption exceeding 18 million tonnes. The country has significant domestic production capacity through petrochemical complexes at Jamnagar (RIL), Panipat (IOCL), Dahej (ONGC), and others.
The packaging segment is the largest consumer of polymers, followed by agriculture (films, pipes), automotive, textiles, and consumer goods. India is transitioning from net importer to exporter for many polymer grades.
