Polymer Industry in India

India's polymer industry is one of the largest in Asia with annual consumption exceeding 18 million tonnes. The country has significant domestic production capacity through petrochemical complexes at Jamnagar (RIL), Panipat (IOCL), Dahej (ONGC), and others.

What's LLDPE costing per kg these days?
LLDPE's at ₹110-125 per kg currently. Film grade runs ₹115-125/kg and rotomolding about ₹110-120/kg. The linear structure gives it better strength. RIL and IOCL produce most of it. Both C4 and C6 comonomer grades exist.
What's LLDPE used for?
LLDPE goes into stretch films heavy-duty bags agriculture films and pond liners. Punches way above its weight in puncture and tear resistance. Stronger than LDPE at the same thickness. Big player in flexible packaging.
How's LLDPE different from LDPE?
LLDPE has a linear structure - stronger puncture resistant lets you use thinner films at ₹110-125/kg. LDPE's branched structure makes it more flexible and easier to process at ₹115-130/kg. Pick LLDPE when strength matters LDPE for general packaging.
What's the deal with C4 and C6 LLDPE?
C4 LLDPE uses butene as the comonomer - that's the standard grade for general films. C6 LLDPE uses hexene which gives better optical properties and sealing for packaging. C6 costs 5-10% more. Choose based on what your film needs.
What's LLDPE stretch film grade?
LLDPE stretch film grade with MFI 1-2 and density 0.918-0.920 gets used for pallet wrapping. Machine wrap and hand wrap grades both exist. Major grades include RIL LL20FS010 and IOCL options. Typical elongation runs 300-500%.
