According to the U.S. Energy Information Administrationโs recent data, demand for crude and petroleum products increased in the United States in November 2022. Itโs the highest level since August 2022, the demand for crude increased by 178,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 20.59 million bpd. At 8.85 million bpd, the demand for finished motor gasoline increased by 21,000 bpd, reaching its highest level in November 2022.
On the other hand, monthly crude oil field output dropped from a 31-month high of 12.41 million bpd in October 2022 to 12.38 million bpd in November 2022. The monthly output in Texas, one of the top oil-producing states, fell by 0.4% to 5.21 million bpd, its lowest level since August 2022. Oil production in North Dakota fell by 0.4% to 1.1 million bpd, the lowest level since August 2022. Additionally, production in New Mexico fell from a record high of 1.724 million bpd in October 2022 to 1.723 million bpd.In November 2022, gross natural gas output in the lower 48 States reached a record 112.2 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd), breaking the previous record of 112.0 bcfd set in October 2022. However, November 2022 saw a decrease in monthly production in Texas and Pennsylvania, two of the major gas-producing states. Texasโs production fell by 0.3% to 31.8 bcfd, while Pennsylvaniaโs production fell by 0.6% to 20.2 bcfd.
Despite a rise in demand for crude and petroleum products in the United States in November 2022, there was a decrease in the production of crude oil and natural gas in the states with the highest production. Despite this, November 2022 saw a record amount of natural gas output. The change in production levels demonstrates the energy industryโs dynamism and the significance of monitoring and modifying output levels to satisfy the shifting demand.
