After completing my MBA from IIM Rohtak in February 2020, I was excited to start the second innings of my career with a leading technology consulting firm. Due to the onset of the COVID19 pandemic, the joining of Management trainees kept getting delayed until June, post which I received the dreaded email stating that my job offer had been revoked. That marked the beginning of a long wait, where I began job hunting and preparing myself for interviews. I was already working with an Influencer marketing startup in a product role, and that helped me immensely in gaining some good first-hand experience of growth and performance marketing.
I came to know about the product manager opening at OfBusiness through LinkedIn. OfBusiness being one of the most sought after recruiters at IIM Rohtak, I was well aware of the unique business model of offering purchase financing and working capital for SMEs. I was really impressed by the exponential growth achieved by the company in half a decade. The interview process was pretty quick and I got an offer within a week. Despite the ongoing pandemic, the onboarding and induction process conducted by the HR team was smooth and helped me in easily adapting to the organization’s work culture. I consider myself lucky enough to stumble upon the right opportunity at the right moment.
I started as a Management Trainee in the Product & Growth function and got an opportunity to work on new product development for the initial three months. Working on this new product under the guidance of Udayaditya was a great learning experience. With time, I got inducted into the Growth team as well where we work on a complete digital marketing experience including paid, performance, and content marketing for different properties of OfBusiness. I was part of the Growth team that won the employee of the month award-November for exemplary performance in improving the marketing metrics of BidAssist.
For the last couple of months, I have been working with the BidAssist team. BidAssist is one of the finest Tender portals in the country with more than 5 lakh registered users and 10 million+ Indian and International tenders. In this project, I work closely with multiple stakeholders to develop innovative solutions with a high focus on growth and business metrics. In BidAssist, I got an opportunity to work in close coordination with our CTO, Bhuvan Gupta, from whom I’ve learned to create an actionable product strategy and designing a product roadmap effectively. At OfBusiness, product managers own the entire customer lifecycle, right from new user acquisition to retention and user base expansion. We work closely with Data analysts to continuously experiment and derive precious insights to propel our product on a growth trajectory. A fantastic team of talented software engineers and designers help me tremendously in finally transforming a vision into reality. I always strive hard to improve myself, and I hope to continuously learn the nuances of product management by creating fantastic products for OfBusiness and our customers.
