Riding the Tiger
“One who rides the Tiger, is afraid to dismount.” – ancient Chinese proverb.
Most of us at OfBusiness feel the same today. 2021 was a year in which we grew 4x in commerce, 2x in the financing, team size by 2x raised $B of capital (across debt and equity), welcomed 3 new investors and 12 new lenders and opened a variety of fronts on business. A lot was done in a year, and hence there is the pressure to do more, not as much from outside as from our inside. The urge to be bigger, better, stronger, sharper, faster and higher is the tiger that we all ride on. And with each passing year, that urge just grows, the ride just speeds up.
So, how does one ride the tiger? And that too without worrying, but enjoying. Dismounting is obviously not an option. The ride is just amazing. It’s the fear of rough landing that must go. And we, at OfBusiness, believe that the only way this fear can go is if we have people to back us in case we trip off. Meaning a great second line in the organization and to make it even smoother, an even better third line and so on. So that all of us can ride the tiger without the fear of dismounting.
It is our collective privilege at OfBusiness that each of us has a line of management under us that is dedicated to all of us. And more so than in 2021: In 2022, – we will invest in them and nurture them far more so that the fear of dismounting goes away even further. And we enjoy riding the tiger, fearless.
Happy riding the tiger over 2022, the Chinese year of the Tiger!
